What's the deal with sponges? Seriously. People are all like "omg! they spread bacteria around! they are like little bacteria planets waiting to infect you with nastiness!" The internets tells you that you should microwave your sponge, throw it in the dishwasher, use towels instead...

Have you ever known anyone who was made sick by a sponge? I was briefly trowling the internet and could not find any cases of sponge-related death. Has anyone ever contracted sponge-related illness? Called in sick because of something they wiped their plate with?

I'm just curious.
